現在の研究内容
昆虫の多様性の変化が農業生態系に及ぼす影響評価に関連する研究を行っています。
日本における採集・目撃の記録が古くから蓄積されている蝶やトンボに着目し、同好会誌などから生物地理情報を抽出してデータベース化し、蝶やトンボの分布変化が、農業活動の変遷とどのように関係しているかを、調べようとしています。
また、2012度まで(独)農業生物資源研究所と共同で、植物が本来持つ病害虫に対する抵抗性を強化することによる、新たな病害虫防除法の開発(生研センター委託プロジェクト)を行ってきました。このプロジェクトの中で、植物に塗布するとハダニなどの害虫に対する抵抗性が強化できる化学物質を発見しましたので(特許出願中)、引き続き、この物質の作用範囲やそのメカニズムを研究中です。
さらに、昆虫における隠ぺい種に関する研究(形態では区別困難ではあるが、野外で交雑しない生物群をDNAや行動の違いなどにより識別し、その進化過程を探る研究)を、クサカゲロウを対象として行っています。
