現在の研究内容
生物は環境中で互いに影響を及ぼしあって生活しています。見た目にはなかなか気づきませんが、同種や異種の生物は化学物質を使って互いに遣り取りしていることがあります。そのような生物間相互作用について、化学と生態学の双方の視点で研究しています。現在、特にアブラナ科植物と害虫であるコナガ、その天敵の寄生蜂コナガサムライコマユバチの三者間相互作用に注目し、(1) 害虫に食害された植物が放出する匂い(揮発性物質)や花の匂いの化学組成、(2) 寄生蜂が寄主探索や餌探索の手掛かりに使う植物成分、(3) 植物の匂い生産機構、(4) 寄生蜂による様々な化学情報の利用様式、等を解明するため、遺伝子操作が可能なアブラナ科のモデル植物であるシロイヌナズナ等を用いて研究に取り組んでいます。この研究によって、天敵を活用した低環境負荷の害虫管理技術開発に役立つ知見が得られると期待されます。
